Our Story

Why we are building this

Magnificent Middle was started by Lucy Kinosian and Trinnie Kern, two Frankfurt-based women navigating their own midlife transitions, and convinced they should not have to face them alone.

After a thirty-year career in banking, and now pursuing board roles with endowments, Lucy found herself in a season many women know but few name out loud: the empty nest, the end of corporate life, and the quiet, profound question of what comes next. With a certificate in the Designing Your Life program, pioneered by Stanford professors Bill Burnett and Dave Evans, she seeks to support women in midlife in redesigning their work, identity, and lifestyle to respond to their new reality.

Trinnie arrived at the same season by a different road after more than two decades in the tech industry, from Silicon Valley to Germany, first as an engineer, then as a patent lawyer. With her children grown and gone, and the corporate chapter closing, she found herself genuinely reflecting on what lay ahead.

What they went looking for was not another networking group or a career programme. It was something deeper: a community of women living the same shifts — not only the physical ones, but the emotional and quietly spiritual changes that ask women to make new space, reconnect with who they really are, and find their way back to each other.

In an increasingly digital world, the need to claim their humanity in real rooms with real people has never felt more urgent. That is why Magnificent Middle is being built around meeting in person, here in the Frankfurt area.

This is the English-speaking community they wanted to find in Europe. They could not, so they are building it, and they are starting by listening.

If you are somewhere in this chapter too, Lucy and Trinnie would love to hear from you. The survey is where it begins.
